2013 Yellowstone and Beyond - Part 1

We finally did it!

We went on a multi-month RV trip, traveling 4,915 RV miles (plus 100s of miles in the car) during 70 days, while visiting 17 states.  During the weeks before we left, we badgered our friends Larry and Beverly Quinn until they HAD to agree to make the trip with us. We are so glad they did.

After 5 days traveling and an afternoon spent at Camping World in Longmont, CO, to repair the wiring between Larry's RV and tow vehicle, we finally arrived in West Yellowstone, MT (yes, this is at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park).

There we met our friends Sam and Brenda Soules and spent the next 10 days exploring in Yellowstone Park. WOW!!!  What an experience.

Never did we expect to be in a traffic jam because a herd of bison were crossing the road or elk were bedding down near the road.

Every time we saw someone pulled over we also had to stop and see what animal had been spied. We never saw a bear in the wild but still it was amazing. We saw it all, bubbling thermal pools, geysers (old faithful was wonderful) and beautiful waterfalls.

One area was even called the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

During our trip through the Grand Tetons (magnificent) and Jackson Hole, we again encountered a traffic jam and discovered a bull moose.

Stay tuned for part 2 as we leave Yellowstone to Mt Rushmore and places East.
